Gift Request Wordings

In the Philippines, it is a custom to offer wedding gifts to the newly wedded couple. It's a "blessing" as the elders say. That's why there's such tradition as "money dance" during the reception, aside from the usual offering of boxed presents.

Couples of today are more dynamic when it comes to lifestyle and careers. If the couples are working abroad and have to go back to work after the wedding, pots and pans (or a microwave oven!) as wedding gifts would definitely mean excess baggage. It's also not surprising to find double or triple of the same kind among the gifts. This is where the money poems come in.

A Tip:

Details of your money tree or wishing well card should be placed only in the wedding invitations of guests whom you know will not be offended to receive the notice and leave it out of the wedding invitations for those who won't.
If you don't want to include details of your bridal registry or your request for money with your wedding invitation then leave it up to your family and bridal party members to discreetly spread the word.

Monetary Option 1

With all that we have, we’ve been truly blessed.
Your presence and prayers are all that we request.
But if you desire to give nonetheless,
Monetary gift is one we suggest.

Monetary Option 2

Your presence at our wedding is present enough
but if we are honored with a gift from you,
a monetary gift will be very much appreciated.

Monetary Option 3

As love is what the night is all about,
your presence is one we can’t celebrate without.
But should you still believe that a gift is worth giving,
a small envelope for our future is a delightful blessing.

Monetary Option 4

If you were thinking of giving a gift,
to help us on our way.
A gift of cash towards our house,
would really make our day.
However, if you prefer to purchase a gift,
feel free to surprise us in your own way.

Monetary Option 5

We made a commitment,
some time ago,
that together through life,
we were destined to go.
To save you looking,
shopping and buying,
here is an idea,
we hope you’ll like trying!
Come to our wedding,
to wish us both well,
and please make a donation,
to our wishing well.

Monetary Option 6

We don’t want to offend,
but we have it all,
household goods,
and so much more.
To save you shopping,
looking and buying,
a gift of currency,
we thought you’d like trying.
Don’t go overboard,
or rob any banks,
anything will make us smile,
with hearts full of thanks.
Now that we have saved
you all the fuss,
we hope you will come,
and celebrate with us.

Monetary Option 7

While personal gifts of household items
or sentimental pieces are greatly appreciated,
we are currently saving for our home
and we would greatly welcome
monetary gifts; it will hopefully save you
time and hassle in shopping, as well as
help us reach our goal more quickly.
Thank you in advance for any
and all contributions; they’re much appreciated.

Monetary Option 8

Receiving wrapped gifts from you is heartwarming,
opening them is truly exciting
…. but we find cash gifts more appreciating
to start our married life that’s worth fulfilling ….

Monetary Option 9

“In this happiest moment of our lives,
your presence is present enough.
But if we are honored with a gift,
a monetary gift will be much appreciated.
as we have to set up our home in Australia.
We are grateful and thankful for your understanding.”

Monetary Option 10

Our worldly possessions are plentiful as such,
on our wedding present list there really isn’t much,
a gift of currency is all we ask,
to help us on our lifelong task

Monetary Option 11

Now we are to be Mr. & Mrs.
We don’t need a wedding list of dishes
we have two kettles, two toasters, two microwaves
We require a house for which we have to save.
If you would like to give us a gift,
a cheque or vouchers would give us a lift
We like to think of it as our ‘Wishing Well’
which will be filled with your love, we can tell.

Monetary Option 12

“We really would appreciate a little money of our own,
instead of a little gift for our new home!”
We know you want to find something nice
But it’s such a hassle to find the right price
So come and enjoy the day all sunny
We really would appreciate a little money.

Monetary Option 13

Many of our guests have enquired
for a gift idea to be inspired.
Like many young couples today,
we have a lot of things anyway.
If you would like to give, it is our request,
for something for our treasure chest.
A gift of money you can afford,
is just what we need, you can be assured!
Without the help of this little pun,
our honeymoon might not be as much fun

Monetary Option 14

We are sending out this invitation,
and hope you will join our celebration.
If to send a gift is your intention,
in modesty we would like to mention,
we have already got a kettle and a toaster,
crockery, dinner mats and coasters,
so rather than something we have already got,
please give us money for our saving pot.
but, most importantly, we request,
that you turn up as our wedding guest

Monetary Option 15

More than just kisses,
so far we’ve shared,
our home has been made,
with love and care.
Most things we need,
we’ve already got,
and in our home,
we can’t fit a lot!
A wishing well,
we thought would be great,
but only if,
you wish to participate,
a gift of money,
is deposited into a well,
then make a wish…
but shhh don’t tell!
Once we’ve replaced,
the old with the new,
we can look back,
and say it was thanks to you!

“Joseph and Michelle have been fortunate to benefit in life and in love. If you were considering a gift, they would be happy to accept a donation to your favorite charity on their behalf.”

Charity Donations Option 2

The greatest gifts we can receive
are your continuing friendship
and your presence at our wedding.
Therefore, in the spirit of the holiday season,
we ask that if you would like to give us a wedding gift,
that it be one which will help
those with greater needs than ourselves.
To accomplish this, we are graciously accepting
monetary gifts to be held in trust
by us until after the wedding,
at which time we will distribute them
to deserving local registered charities.
After the wedding, we will be delighted to share with you
information concerning where the gifts went
so you can see what a difference we have made together.
